I'm a professional engineer and owner/operator of Firefly SUP Drives in Anacortes. We install electric drives on standup paddleboards (SUPs) using our patented forward-mounted drive configuration. Over the course of my engineering career I've done a wide variety of presentations at professional conferences. In addition to my presentation at the Wooden Boat Festival, I plan on displaying two wooden SUPs that are outfitted with electric drives. Hoping to have them located at the Festival's innovation tent. One board is a 14' stitch and glue wooden board from Fiberglass Supply. The other is a 11' 6" bamboo veneer covered fiberglass board. My interest is getting people thinking about green recreational boating using electric propulsion. Demonstrating success with small personal watercraft is a good introduction to the concept.
