I started my professional life as an Engineer Officer in the Royal Canadian Navy, followed by a lifelong career of environmental activism that started in engineering and progressed to management, executive management and consulting in the green building movement in Canada. Since retiring from that career, I am now a writer and a periodic amateur boatbuilder, having published one book (“Becoming Coastal”, about my 25 years of kayaking and sail and oar boating on the coast of British Columbia) and a number of magazine articles, including for Wooden Boat Magazine.
